    • "We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses w "We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses whose lives tell us what faith means. So let us run the race before us and never give up." Hebrews 12:1 NCV I once arrived at a Christian writers' conference carrying both grief and gratitude. On the plane I received sad news that a dear friend who bravely fought her cancer had passed that morning. She was only 46, leaving a teenage son behind. I cried on the plane, feeling her absence and her love of life. It was a challenge to be totally present. Yet that gathering of a great cloud of witnesses offered me what faith means. The genuine support of one another is astounding. Some wrote novels, some articles, devotionals, audio stories—and some were just starting out. All possessed different unique gifts. My grieving mind took heart for the cloud of witnesses spreading faith through various media. The morning of my pitch, I was excited and a little nervous. Sitting at a breakfast table of strangers, I blurted out that I was doing my pitch, and they said OK, go ahead. They listened and gave such great feedback with genuine care, rooting me on. What are friends for? Or are they really angels in disguise who appear out of nowhere to help you through a difficult time? Those days guided me through an aching heart of grief—and then bolstered my confidence in pursuing my novel and mentoring others in spreading Seeds of Faith. Where are you finding nourishment for your dreams? What does your cloud of witnesses look like?
My husband and I once celebrated a wedding anniver My husband and I once celebrated a wedding anniversary by returning to the church where we were married. Even with careful planning, something can go awry—the 100-year-old church had no AC, it was 97 degrees, and the ceiling fans didn't work. I was so caught up in concern for our guests that, for a moment, it distracted me. But when I walked down the aisle arm in arm with him, the joy and the gravitas of the ceremony enveloped me. Despite the inconvenience, we felt blessed to be surrounded by the love of dear friends. One has to think of what other commitments we have made. How often do we make a serious pledge of love, time, or talent—to family or friends, to a faith? What is so worthy that we will commit to it? And for how long? I'd love for you to read more of this reflection here: https://lisalarsenhill.com/encouragement/what-makes-us-recommit-to-our-vows/
“A delightful read! Lisa helped put flesh and emot “A delightful read! Lisa helped put flesh and emotions on the Book of Numbers from the Bible. The story drew me in as I hoped and laughed and worried and cried and yearned with the daughters. After reading it myself, I immediately bought another copy for my friend!” — Lydia, reviewer Reading that she finished the book and immediately bought another copy for a friend is one of the best compliments an author can receive. I’m so grateful to every reader who has taken the time to read Daughters of the Wilderness, recommend it to someone else, and leave a review. Your words help other readers discover this story, and I appreciate each one.
