  • PRAYER FOR OUR LOST ONES AND THOSE LEFT BEHIND: T PRAYER FOR OUR LOST ONES AND THOSE LEFT BEHIND:

Twenty-five years later, what does faithful remembrance ask of us?

It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since September 11, 2001, a day that remains buried deep within our hearts. Please join me in prayer.

Dear Lord,

We remember where we were that day, the reports coming in, the images before us, the tears shed, and a world in mourning.

We pray for all those whose lives were taken too soon. We remember the spouses who never had the chance to say one more I love you and who were left to pick up the pieces of their lives and families.

We pray for the children who lost parents that day, many of whom are now adults themselves. May they continue to feel Your presence surrounding them with love, comfort, strength, and hope.

We lift up the first responders who, without hesitation and often without thought for their own safety, answered the call. We remember those who gave their lives that day and those who became ill and died in the years that followed.

Lord, our world is still broken. In the midst of division, violence, and uncertainty, we ask for Your grace to guide us.

Give us the courage and faith to believe that each of us can make a difference. Help us use the gifts You have given us to bring kindness where there is anger, hope where there is despair, and light where there is darkness.

May our shared grief become shared hope, and may we carry the light of those we lost into a world that sorely needs it.

Amen.

WANT A GOOD READ? Poems and Prayers for the Season WANT A GOOD READ? Poems and Prayers for the Seasons by Jennifer Drummond

As someone who loves nature, Poems and Prayers for the Seasons really spoke to me. Jennifer Drummond beautifully captures the changing seasons and the emotions, reflections, and spiritual lessons that come with them. It’s a lovely book to keep nearby for quiet moments of reflection and appreciation of the natural world. Highly recommended!
I must admit, autumn is my favorite time of year. I must admit, autumn is my favorite time of year. I love the vibrant hues—the scarlet of the red maples, bursts of orange and deep red from the sugar maples, and the rich golds and bronzes of the oaks. Ahhh…can you already imagine it and smell that glorious earthy aroma? Fall seems to bring a renewed energy. We move from the lazy days of summer into crisp autumn days that invite us to recharge, refocus, and begin again. What are you diving into?

Seminar with the United Methodist Church in Commack for United Women in Faith
September 10th at 7pm

After Roger and I preached at the church in June, I was invited back to speak with their United Women in Faith about the daughters of Zelophehad. We explore what these five courageous sisters can teach us today about faith, courage, and stepping forward. If you are in the area would love to have you join us!
