9/11 Twenty-Five Years Later

Twenty-five years ago, I went to the city early, excited to be going on a vacation with my husband leaving on an 8pm flight. I...

  • This last Saturday was our 47th time that my Seeds This last Saturday was our 47th time that my Seeds of Faith Book Group met and it was to discuss my book Daughters of the Wilderness. Wow! It was 8 years ago that I started this book group and little did I know then that one day it would be my book discussed. I was so moved and humbled by what readers took away, I was on the verge of tears. This group was instrumental for my development as a writer. Through our many discussions they had said what they like and don't in a biblical novel which is why there is a map, a list of characters, a glossary and an authors note that explains what is fictional and what is derived from the bible/research and so much more. God orders our steps. I am amazed how I was led one step at a time to reach this place. I'm so grateful. If you are in doubt about why you are where you are at this place on your journey, this verse may help. "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Proverbs 16:9
It was such a joy to join the Commack United Women It was such a joy to join the Commack United Women of Faith! Nineteen wonderful women gathered to hear the story of the daughters of Zelophehad—the five courageous sisters who stepped forward in faith and changed history.

I loved sharing their story, talking about Daughters of the Wilderness, and reflecting together on what these remarkable women can still teach us today about courage, faith, and finding our voices.

Thank you for the warm welcome, thoughtful questions, and wonderful conversation. What a blessing to spend time with this lovely group of women! ❤️

PRAYER FOR OUR LOST ONES AND THOSE LEFT BEHIND: T PRAYER FOR OUR LOST ONES AND THOSE LEFT BEHIND:

Twenty-five years later, what does faithful remembrance ask of us?

It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since September 11, 2001, a day that remains buried deep within our hearts. Please join me in prayer.

Dear Lord,

We remember where we were that day, the reports coming in, the images before us, the tears shed, and a world in mourning.

We pray for all those whose lives were taken too soon. We remember the spouses who never had the chance to say one more I love you and who were left to pick up the pieces of their lives and families.

We pray for the children who lost parents that day, many of whom are now adults themselves. May they continue to feel Your presence surrounding them with love, comfort, strength, and hope.

We lift up the first responders who, without hesitation and often without thought for their own safety, answered the call. We remember those who gave their lives that day and those who became ill and died in the years that followed.

Lord, our world is still broken. In the midst of division, violence, and uncertainty, we ask for Your grace to guide us.

Give us the courage and faith to believe that each of us can make a difference. Help us use the gifts You have given us to bring kindness where there is anger, hope where there is despair, and light where there is darkness.

May our shared grief become shared hope, and may we carry the light of those we lost into a world that sorely needs it.

Amen.

WANT A GOOD READ? Poems and Prayers for the Season WANT A GOOD READ? Poems and Prayers for the Seasons by Jennifer Drummond

As someone who loves nature, Poems and Prayers for the Seasons really spoke to me. Jennifer Drummond beautifully captures the changing seasons and the emotions, reflections, and spiritual lessons that come with them. It’s a lovely book to keep nearby for quiet moments of reflection and appreciation of the natural world. Highly recommended!
