Look Up and You Will Know
Recently I’ve been thinking about an excerpt from my book, Daughters of the Wilderness and how much it means to me. It’s something I do, without realizing it, but someon pointed it out to that I always mention how beautiful, or magnificent, or startling is the sky. Everyday we are greeted by a new canvas God has painted for us and it keeps evolving throughout the hours.
“The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.” 1 Corinthians 15:41
As we turn to the changing of a new season, to the vibrant colors of the trees, let us thank God for his amazing creativity.
If you take a moment and look up at the firmament, whether you are celebrating you can be inspired, if you are feeling overwhelmed, you can find strength, if you are experiencing stress, you can find peace. It is certainly a way to support gratitude which brings a new perspective no matter where we are.

At the edge of the last tents, they arrived at a clearing.
“Here we are.” Abba waved to a large, plush rug the Egyptian Chief had insisted he take when the Israelites fled…
The daughters spread out on the extravagant rug, exclaiming among themselves. Mahlah maneuvered onto one of the wooden stools, and Zelophehad the other.
“Daughters, I want you to look. Look up.” He gazed at the broad expanse of stars, the half-moon giving an extra glow that surrounded them. “The tall pillar of fire that burns so bright from our Tabernacle is where God deems to live among us, giving us light so we can find our way. And He also graces us with these jewels.” The stillness swaddled them as if a blanket smothered the din from the camp, leaving a quiet solitude.
Zelophehad extended his long, powerful arms and pointed to the heavens. “Your grandmother declared these stars display God’s love pouring out to us. They will remind you how God watches over you, even when I’m not around.” Zelophehad gestured to the firmament above.
“My daughters, sometimes we need to contemplate why we’re living, why we should give thanks to our Lord. Remember, look up, and you will know. Whatever you’re feeling, be it happy, confused, or frustrated, especially with each other,” Zelophehad peered at Noah and Milkah. “You can look up. Day or night. When I do, it calms my soul. I experience God’s creation, which changes my feelings to gratitude and hope. It’s a lesson I’m grateful for. I ferried you out here to remind you of this.”
“He took him outside and said, ‘Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Genesis 15:5:
Sometimes we just need to use our senses to feel the care, beauty, faithfulness of our Lord.
“From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.” Psalm 113:3
