How to Find the Courage to Move Forward in Faith (Even When You Feel Uncertain)

I was recently invited to be on The You Are Worthy Network with Steve Wormer—truly a terrific interviewer—for a conversation stemming from my novel, Daughters of the Wilderness, based on the Old Testament story about five sisters who asked for something no woman had done before and changed history. The conversation started with my early days and moved into faith, our individual stories, and the courage it takes to step forward when we don’t know the outcome.

A Few Takeaways from Our Conversation:

Faith is woven through everyday life
From marriage to travel to writing, faith isn’t separate—it’s present in it all.

Courage often begins with one step forward
The daughters of Zelophehad didn’t know the outcome. Some of them only had faith the size of a mustard seed, yet they stepped forward.

You don’t have to have it all figured out
Faith and questions can coexist. Courage means having the faith to move forward despite the uncertainty.

God is personally involved, meeting us in our doubts
God sends us messages through people, through what may seem like a coincidence, and it just can’t be, lighting our path along the way.

Story as a way to encounter Scripture
When we engage Scripture through story, it moves from something we read to something we can relate to.

If you take a listen, I hope something in this conversation encourages you—especially if you’re standing at a place where the next step requires a bit of courage.

I’d love to hear what resonates most with you.
