When I was 13 and my brother Cliff was 11, we made this banner with my mother. When she passed, I found it in her attic and took it to a dry cleaner. It is at the top of my stairs, so every day, I see this message and remember this precious family time and smile at its message. What makes you smile about God?

Do we take time just to be? With no to-do lists? This Utah trip was a gift not only because of all the things we saw but also because of the long drives looking out the window, marveling at all I could see. I hope you take time today to relish the scene in front of you. What's your favorite place to be just to think?

Utah used to be the US West Coast billions of year

Utah used to be the US West Coast billions of years ago! As I learned more about the geography on our visit, I wondered where God was 4.6 billion years ago and what He was doing. Why did humans take so long to enter the scene? After pondering for two days, I suddenly heard, “I made this for you” (mankind). “OH! YES!” God created the wonders of the earth for us to be awed. He gave us priceless gifts to stand in reverence, astonishment, and wonder. And it was His time, not ours. What has made you stop in your tracks at God's wonders?

It is hard to imagine 1 billion years ago, but less than 4.6! Yet that is what it took to create these Utah national parks.

I think about how His natural wonders have created jobs and careers. Looking at dinosaurs, everyone, from archeologists to scientists to explorers to visitors, is interested in the bones left behind. This created more jobs, books, movies, toys, museums, parks, hotels, etc…

The Lord had plans for us, not to harm but to prosper and give us hope. I came away with a new appreciation of God and His magnificence.
What a great month to recognize again how much God has given us.

May we recognize every day all that God has made for us.
