A Personal Update and Anticipated Reading

Hi Everyone,

It seems my word of the year was a good choice…

Prepare your minds for action1 Peter 3:15

This week, I have a 4-day meeting with the Network of Biblical Storytellers Board, where I am the President, so lots of planning. And unfortunately, I’m still battling some health challenges that are not contagious. I humbly ask for your prayers for the board’s safe travels, and our work to be accomplished with love and joy.

So, I thought I would share a partial list of my 2026 reading list.

The first is Draw Close to Jesus, 40 Encounters with the Savior for the Sacred Season of Lent

by Heidi Chiavaroli

I loved this book! From the very first pages, Draw Close to Jesus pulled me in with its well-researched historical details, making the world of Jesus feel real and alive. The Old Testament references and thoughtfully woven stories helped me better understand the culture and context, making Scripture feel even more meaningful.

One of my favorite things is how each chapter starts with a character connected to the reflection. Some are familiar from the Bible, while others are creatively imagined, which helped me step into the story and connect with the message.

I also really appreciated Heidi’s introduction, a beautiful way of reaching out to believers and helping where we have challenges, meeting readers wherever they are on their faith journey.

Easter is early this year, with the Lenten season starting on February 18th. This devotional is a meaningful invitation to bring our hearts closer to Jesus, and I highly recommend taking this journey during your Lenten Season.

Other books on the list that I’m looking forward to.

May we all listen to our hearts and keep preparing our minds for action as we step into this new year. Wherever God is leading—through busy seasons, quiet moments, or good books—I hope we stay open, curious, and rooted in faith. Thank you for your prayers and for being part of this journey with me.
